PROFESSIONAL GOALS
I recently graduated from IUPUI with a Bachelors of Kinesiology Exercise Science. I have chosen this major because I love learning about how the body works and how we can work to improve it. I absolutely loved my anatomy class and was so interested in learning how the body functions together. I look forward to learning new facts about how to further challenge the body. During my undergraduate experience, I have really enjoyed learning about exercise and how impactful it is for almost every single aspect of a person's life. I looked forward to all my classes and loved being in the School of Health and Human Sciences.
As an exercise science major, I have numerous opportunities, like being a personal trainer, to work in the health field. However, my dream is to become an Occupational Therapist. Working as an Occupational Therapist, I will be able to help people re-gain their quality of life by patiently helping them re-learn and conquer everyday life skills. I hope to work in pediatrics one day. I have always had a love for children. During college, I was a nanny for an infant which was one of the best jobs I have ever had.
One of my goals for my college experience was to be able to graduate with my bachelor's degree by the age of 20 and in May that dream come true. Upon graduating with my Bachelor's degree of Science in Kinesiology, I began graduate school in the Doctorate of Occupational Therapy program at IUPUI. I am looking into either being a Pediatric Occupational Therapist or work in Acute Trauma Care in a hospital. I believe that graduate school will enable me to learn and appreciate life in a new way with the knowledge I gain.

One of my professional goals is to be completely flexible. The medical field is extremely diverse and ever-changing. I hope to learn how to adapt to anything presented to me effectively and professionally. I have learned how best I learn through my undergraduate curriculum and am looking forward to applying those skills to graduate school.

Personal Training Philosophy
I had the privilege in my undergraduate experience to participate in INShape IUPUI. During this experience, I acted as a student personal trainer for a faculty or staff member of IUPUI. My initial meeting with my client consisted of fitness assessments and a general needs analysis. From the data I collected, I created weekly workouts for my client and met with her twice a week at the National Institute for Fitness and Sport for training. My goal was to help my client reach the ACSM recommendations for physical activity. Even though this was my goal, I started out by I assessed where my client fell on the transtheoretical model of change which helped me understand her motivational level.
